Dont have alot of advice for you, has been way to many years since I had a little one. But what I will say is I would rather see a question like this on an outdoors site than all the normal political BS.

I always said the good man upstairs is just making you stronger right now to deal with all the crap you will have to put up with when he is a teenager!!!!!

Good Luck!

We had some difficulties with one of our kids, turned out to be the formula we were using. He did much better with a soy based formula. The soy is much more expensive but much better for the child and your peace in the house! I don't know if this is something that will cure him or make it better for you but it may be something to look into.

This is going to sound weird, but you should take him to a chiropractor.  It can work wonders.  Call around and find one that regularly deals with babies.

I feel your pain; dealt with the same thing about a year and a half ago.  Hang in there...

Both great advice, also dont allow yourself or your wife to get stressed and then deal with the baby.  He will feel it through you and it will only get worse.  He is crying and upset anyway so put him in a safe place and walk away for a break.  Do like Murdock has to do when fishing with Jiffy and count up to ten and back to zero.  The formula may be something you really need to consider if he is breast feeding then maybe he isnt getting enough but babies dont tend to get pissed like this unless they are missing or need something

Just curious, Was your wife induced? I have found babies that are born early or induced have more problems adjusting to the outside world. Our last one was induced because of size (doctor said over ten lb's) born just over 7 lb's two weeks early!  The first 3 or 4 months were a nightmare!!!!!!! Then things cleared up and he's been a terrific kid for over 13 years! I still have nightmares about those first 4 months!

Man I don't miss those days. It gets better. It really does.

Baby might be gassy. Try something to relieve the gas, and we used the Soy based formula mentioned earlier and that helped. Good luck!

If momma's feeding, make CERTAIN she's not ingesting ANY caffine.

Try wrapping the little bugger fairly snuggly in his blanket, obviously not so tight as to restrict breathing, but, my little one was much happier in a snug blanket.

If you happen to live close to Canada their pharmacy's have something called Gripe Water.  (not sure of the spelling).  Kind of an old school deal but it seemed to help.

I would second taking the little one into the chiropractor. As a former student at NWHSU and Palmer College of Chiropractic, I got to see many children with colic come in and get adjusted. There were some GREAT results, and helped many children with a simple adjustment. People do not realize the amount of pressure on a child's head/neck/body when coming through the birth canal or being pulled or pushed etc.  My brother and law and sister had about the exact same problems with their youngest at about 1 month old. They took him into a Dr. out of Minot, and one adjustment is all it took with some great results. Best wishes and hope everything works out for you!

I'll second "gripe water", it helped our little one.  It is available at CVS or Target.  Read the label though, I don't think you want to use any brands that contain alcohol.  We used Little Tummy's brand that contains sodium, ginger, and fennel.

Thanks everyone! yes she was induced but after 27 LONG hours of hard labor they ended having to do a C-section. we have heard of the chiro, and alot of people are telling us about the soy. The lil guy has a checkup thur. we will for sure be bringing up alot of questions..Its just great to hear it get better (and i know it will) but its going on 2 weeks and i got a long road ahead of me. Man ol man it is much harder then i ever imagined. My wife had brought up the gripe water also and i have heard of a certian tea where dip a candycane for a min or so?? i guess suger (glucose) is kind of pain killer (tummy aches)?? we have just been kind of scared to try anything since he is still so new.

When we had our son, he had horrible colic after the first couple of weeks.  Same thing with our daughter a couple years later.

I am going to put this in all caps to make sure it is read and remembered.

TALK TO YOUR PEDIATRICIAN ABOUT ACID REFLUX IN INFANTS!  Our pediatrician has/had the opinion that many if not most colicky babies are simply a case of acid reflux and can easily be treated with very small doses of acid reflux meds.  We got a prescription for Zantac and it was A WORLD OF DIFFERENCE.

As the kid grows, the dosage needs to be updated as it is based upon the weight of your child. About every 2 lbs in growth required a recalculation of dosage in our case.

Note, if your pediatrician doesn't at least seriously consider acid reflux as a possibility for an infant, not all did as little as five years ago, seek out another pediatrician who will at least objectively explore if this could be the problem.

“Sometimes I wonder whether the world is being run by smart people who are putting us on or by imbeciles who really mean it.” ~ Mark Twain
