Early doe rifle season....G&F you can't be serious?

I just can't believe they are going to have another early rifle doe season here in ND after one of the worst and longest winters on record! There is no way there's some kind of over population problem in some of these units! I carry my optics and glass deer all year long, this is the fewest I have seen in at least 15 years.

Agree 100%.....There are approx. 1,000 anterless tags left in my unit and I refuse to purchase even one with the number of does I have seen in the area I hunt which is not small!!  I will be going tagless in ND for the first time and don't feel one bit bad about it.  All they care about is selling out tags!!  Unfortunate!!

"When we step into the outdoors, we have the privilege of standing in the presence of God through the power and majesty of His creation. That makes hunting more than a sport or a hobby. It's a calling to something greater. And that transforms the places that we stand into something more than a cropfield or a pasture or a mountain. It makes that place Hallowed Ground."

Yes.  All they're concerned about is making money selling licenses.  It doesn't matter if there's any deer in these units or not.  I had 2 doe tags for 3E1 last year, and didn't fill one of them.  I'm not wasting my money this year.  The units that have an early season are 3E1, 3E2, 3F1, 3F2, and 4F.

By this logic the NDGF should have an early season Hen Pheasant hunt available since the pheasant numbers are down.

They should have it in the spring when the deer are all herded up.  That way it would be easy to tell the bucks from the does.

If you are a truely concerned about the deer population in your unit, and think there are too many anterless tags, why not buy a few tags and not use them?? I have already sent in for my save a doe tag.

And there is nothing anyone of us outdoorsmen can do about it as the ND g&f answer only to the gov.  They are not accountable to anyone else.  They also seem to be about nothing but making money the last few years when it comes to deer hunting.  I am sure this comment will put me on the G&F blacklist again and will not get a buck tag for another 4 years but I don't care.

yeah right, at $20 bucks a pop, the G&F is making a "mint" on these tags.  Get real.  This extra revenue would barely be enough to fund someone to maintain a mythical "blacklist."

Maybe the extra revenue will go towards the "mountain lion relocation program."

Apparently, they don't think numbers are down in those units.

maybe I missed something, but my understanding is that the early season does not mean that they are issuing "extra" tags, it is just that you can use your tag at this earlier time as opposed to using it during the regular gun season.  Please correct me if I am wrong, but the total number of lisences to be issued this year remains the same, so I 'm not sure how this is causing a problem by reducign the herd sooner - it is just a matter of when the tag holder fills the tag...

Yes.  But a 109,950 times $20 is $2,199,000.

Oops.  I forgot about muzzleloader tags.  That 2108 times $20 = $42,160.
