How to make it quit?

Pulled a not so smart move this weekend with the boat, here is the story:

Have a 1993 115 hp Mariner 2-cycle on the boat which has an oil reservoir attached to the motor.  Running down the lake at full throttle when the low oil alarm comes on so I quickly shut it off and check the oil level.  Yep, the alarm is working properly.

Fill the reservoir back up and hit the key only to be greeted by the alarm again.

Thought maybe things needed to cool down or the battery needed to be disconnected to reset the alarm so did both.  No difference.

Two days later, same thing.  As soon as the key is turned the alarm starts sounding.

Any ideas on what to do?

Check to see the float in the oil reservior is not stuck down.  After that, I would have to take it in.  Good Luck!

if the float isn't stuck the sensor probably went out.

Same thing happened to me on my old Merc last summer. Had to replace the oil reservoir since the sensor is inside. The float was just fine. Cost about $90.

Yes, here too.   Oil low alarm kept sounding with resevoir full so took it in to Boat works.   Russ replaced the resevoir, good to go again.

OR IF YOU WANT TO BE DANGEROUS, UNPLUG THE ALARM AND MAKE DAMN SURE YOUR RESEVOIR NEVER RUNS LOW.     I did that for a while until the off season so I could use the boat.  Just top off the resevoir after EVERY use.   I'm not gonna tell you how to unplug the alarm unless you ask!!

I have a '97 - 90 HP merc. 2 stroke and oil res is along side the motor as you described also..
