i have a pop up ice house from clam.  i would like to somehow put some cheap/durable/bright lights that would run off of a 12 volt battery or possibly the same battery as my vexilar.  any ideas would be greatly appreciated.  also i would rather not order lights if at all possible.

little propane lantern out of the question, otherwise there are several LED type lightnin options available.  LED seems to be the brightest for the least amount of power.  or you could hang one of those fluorescent lanterns up.

If you are creative go to the junk yard or the auto parts store and get some of the tube type bulbs about an inch or so long  that GM used to use for interior lights.  a couple  of  Those and some speaker wire and you can light her up like a Christmas tree.

Just go to a farm store or hardwarestore and get some 12 volt  light bulbs and fix up a cord and some alligator clamps. I believe they are 60 amp bulbs. Plenty of light and not that hard on your 12 volt battery.

Exactly what I have done in my Clam Yukon.  Gives just the right amount of light.!!  I ran them up the sides and then across the top.  Vex battery sits in the sled.

"When we step into the outdoors, we have the privilege of standing in the presence of God through the power and majesty of His creation. That makes hunting more than a sport or a hobby. It's a calling to something greater. And that transforms the places that we stand into something more than a cropfield or a pasture or a mountain. It makes that place Hallowed Ground."

Go with LED, they are bright and use almost no energy. About 3-4 years ago I bought two LED light strands at Scheels, they are about 4 feet long each and came wired to hook to a Vex battery. I use them in clam 5600 & 6800 and they work perfectly. I bought a little plastic tool box that a battery and lights fit into nicely for easy transport. I have not taken my lantern with me since the first time I used these.

the LED's are the way to go. If you don't want to use ropes and haul a small battery try this. I found some tent lights that a person can hang from the poles. What we do, is put them in the pockets in the portable that are located by the holes. They shine down on them and also put enought light out to light the house up pretty good. They run on Double A batteries so that would be the only downfall of bring a pack or two with you on the next trip. Ours lasted the morning bite and the night bite no problem. And you can leave them in the house pockets.

If we're not supposed to eat animals, how come they're made out of meat?

I just use the LED head lamps that I have acquired bow hunting over the past few years, seems I lose one in the off season every year, buy a new one just before season starts, and then find the lost one.  They work fairly well, both on your head or tied up to one of the poles, what I like about them is that you can tilt the light and it will stay put.
