Any thoughts on no mule deer doe tags for the badlands in 2012 or banning baiting in units 3C, 3E1, 3E2 and 3F1?

It should be interesting to see what they do for next year. I wish they could do something to keep more habitat for the deer, losing another 800,000 acres is huge. I wonder if they'll put more money into the PLOTS program to try and keep that land in CRP. Did anyone that attended these meeting have any inside to these issues?

Can't imagine they would have the money to pay enough to keep farmers from plowing up a significant amount of crp.  Maybe some, but not on meaningful scale.  I've always thought more WMAs would be nice.  Maybe some of the oil money could be diverted to habitat.

You can thank the NDFB and their cronies for no more WMA's.  SInce they lobby against any land in the state going public and have an unconstitutional law on the books to aid their cause.  Someday the law will be challenged and fall like it did in Nebraska, South Dakota and many other states.  Then more private land will be allowed to be sold or donated to public entities such as NDG&F.

swift as a medical "professional" you should know what to do if a "willie" persists more than 4 hours after taking Cialis, perhaps you can do something to address this  "willie" you have over NDFB.  Perhaps bobkat can prescribe something!

Wayne, if you are interested in discussing the baiting ban in these units, ask the game and fish why they will not give up their intercept feeding program or move to ban ALL feeding of wildlife if reducing risk of transference is actually their goal. As per the conversation I had with Greg Link regarding this, it will still be legal to feed deer as long as you are not hunting over the feed.  I guess from the arm chair, I never realized  the risk of transfering CWD apparently only comes from the hunting of these deer rather than the feeding of them.

Then have them explain why if reducing the possiblitiy of nose to nose contact and transference is thier goal to reduce the risk of disease, how this will be lessened by actively developing a long range management goal that INCREASES the number of maintained deer to where a record level of managed tag allotments will fall at 125,000 every year for the next 5 years , up 25,000  as per their goals,  given them knowing all these CRP acres will be coming out and deer will likely be even further congregated to existing habitat.

Just a couple of questions from the arm chair as I apparently missed that "training".

Are we really going to discuss this again? I know the horse is dead but even he has to be feeling quite sore by now. I swear this pops up on every thread.

Don't continue to count your chickens.  There was mention. albiet very little mention, about a one tag system, fill buck tag with bow, rifle, or muzzy, but only one.  With numbers headed in the toilet and CRP following that trend, they mentioned.  Someone's words were "it may be the time and something to consider".
Wayne, Bobkat, Allen, do you remember this at all?  It was brough up when the gentlemen in the back from Roseglen mentioned no deer due to the Reservation season starting a week earlier.

Also, the Plots program pays $6 an acre for crp.  Without the CRP funding that $6 does not hold a candle or match to $6 a bushel Wheat.

Too bad the state couldn't start some program to help entice some of the land to remain in CRP, it's not like we don't have money. It just sucks to see so much good cover lost to crop land, but I guess that's how it goes.

What about pheasants? Did they mention anything about a dog ban so the remaining roosters don't all get slaughtered so easily next year?

That kinda gave me a chuckle. However, I would say if the bird numbers are brutal once again, they will just put the limit down to 2 roosters per person, like they had it years ago when numbers where down in the dumpster. Anyone remember what years the limit was at 2 per person? Im thinking early- mid 90's, there was a year or two in there?
