Re:Wayne,
The Rubies are finally growing some good deer again. The last ten years have been a bit of a challenge finding the older age class bucks. Chris and I spent 8 days in the Rubies this season and were seeing 20 to 30 bucks a day in the high density areas, with a couple 180 to 185" bucks showing themselves most every day. Killing them, or simply getting to them, is a different story. Chris made a great stalk on a browsing group of bucks and killed his buck on his last day. I went out a few days later and found a buck that made a big mistake, he stopped and gave me a "look" at 25 yards. Good thing the deer made a mistake or I might have been skunked. This season was the most physically demanding hunt of my life. We hiked roughly 75 miles at or near 10,000' in 8 days of hunting trying to find some quality deer. Thank goodness all the hard work paid off. Scott "Believe you can and you're halfway there."

Re:That cliff behind me in the photo had a 190" buck feeding on it with some billy goats. I had a sprained ankle and decided that if I accidently tripped during a stalk I might fall to my death, Really!! The Rubies have some of the nastiest steepest mule deer habitat in the country. It's very satisfying when you finally connect in that type of terrain. It took 1 1/2 days to pack my deer to the vehicle. Awesome scenery though, it's some of the most beautiful country you'll ever set foot in. "Believe you can and you're halfway there."
