Am new to shotgun reloading and just picked up a used Mec 9000, is there any clean-up, etc. that is recommended before I start trying to reload.  Even though it is an older machine it seems to have seen limited use but is a bit dusty.

Any suggestions?

Get off as much dust as you can with a cloth and/or high pressure air.  I'd think about using some nitro solvent (hoppes or similar) on/in the deprime/resize die, a 12 or 10ga bronze brush on a section of cleaning rod chucked up in a drill gets the crud off quickly, wipe it out a couple times with a clean cloth/solvent until the cloth doesn't pick up any more black gunk.

Don't get solvent or lube anywhere near the primer station!  Pretty easy to render a primer inert or greatly reduce it's effectiveness creating a stuck wad situation.  The stuck wad deal is BAD NEWS if in the heat of the moment you don't clear the bore before firing again.  Say hello to a bulged bbl at best and a blown up shotgun more likely.  Weakend primers SUCK!  Been there, done that, a bunch.

"Pilot error" It is a good way to tell if a person is truthful. I did 18 grs.and 71/2 shot no wad..Delayed fire and about 6fps shot
I figured you would have the dillon loading up some .25 cal bullets. they should work good on cans (african, mexican, and what ever other can). 117 gr at about 2900 will work on squrills, I have a couple boxes of .30 cal bronze tips, they are 150grains (no use for the) I widh I knew someone who shoots a .30 cal (hint hint)
Load the .357 bullets with 18grs of h110or 296
If you use a small bullet then you have drips to follow and big bullets leave a trail
I don't think the 25's are not going to bounce off of a small doe but might on a yearling buck.   Have fun with them. I might have to find a home for some 150 gr flat nose maybe  I have a good load in a 223 4 grs bullseye with a 2 shot that is held in place with a hot glue gun,a cat will fly at forty yards and will not come back it will not kill only bruse
